Programme Intern

Africa Centre for Open Governance (AfriCOG) is seeking for qualified and experienced
Programme Interns to provide support and assistance in all matters relating to the programme
implementation functions of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Participate in programme development and implementation and reporting activities in
    respect to such programmes.
  •  Participate in the development of advocacy campaigns; implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
  • Undertake research under the direction of the management team.
  • Assist in background research and support functions including (but not limited) to collecting information and database creation.
  • Assist and support the management team in planning and coordination of resource
    mobilisation activities including the preparation and submission of project proposals to
    existent and potential donors.
  • Assist and support the management team monitor and evaluate programme activities to determine the extent to which the programme activities are being met. Recommend
    remedial activities in instances of shortfalls.
  • Assist and support the management team in identifying, developing and maintaining
    relationships with partners including: local and international NGOs, CBOs, private and
    public institutions, funding partners etc.
  • Assist and support the management team in organising and providing professional support as necessary to consultants, task forces, working groups etc, which are involved in the implementation of AfriCOG’s work plans.

Qualifications 

  • A minimum first degree in law, economics or political/social science. A master’s degree
    will be a definite advantage.
  • Knowledge of project planning and management
  • At least 3 years experience working in a non-governmental organization with knowledge
    of governance issues
  • Demonstrated experience of research writing in a variety of styles to suit different
    audiences
  • High level of self-motivation and creativity as well as the ability to work independently
    when necessary, as well as a member of a team.
